The Rabbit Left Ventricle Modeling at the Cellular Scale: Application to Flow-clamp Experiments

چکیده

Modeling the cardiac function is often considered using a phenomenological approach, where the cardiac contraction is described macroscopically (at the organ level). However, in this study we use a microscopic approach and describe the rabbit ventricular contraction at the cellular and subcellular levels. This leads to a better description of the ventricle contraction during flow-clamp protocols. Keyword: modeling of physiological systems

Evaluation of diastolic blood flow dynamic of the left ventricle in dogs with mitral valve regurgitation using vector flow mapping

Mitral valve regurgitation (MVR) is a common valvular disease in dogs. Hydrokinetic evaluation of the blood flow within the ventricles has become possible by vector flow mapping (VFM), which shows the blood flow within the ventricles in vector and vortex flows. Blood flow within the left ventricle of MVR dogs was compared at different stages of MVR and to that of normal dogs. 14 normal dogs and...

Combined application of computational fluid dynamics (CFD) and design of experiments (DOE) to hydrodynamic simulation of a coal classifier

Combining the computational fluid dynamics (CFD) and the design of experiments (DOE) methods, as a mixed approach in modeling was proposed so that to simultaneously benefit from the advantages of both modeling methods. The presented method was validated using a coal hydraulic classifier in an industrial scale. Effects of operating parameters including feed flow rate, solid content and baffle le...

VASODILATOR EFFECTS OF ACETYLCHOLINE IN AN EXPERIMEN TAL MODEL OF HEART FAILURE

The purpose of the work presented here was to investigate endotheliumdependent relaxations in the rabbit coronary ligation model of heart failure. We investigated endothelium-dependent relaxations at the level of larger vessels (thoracic aorta and vena cava left renal artery and left renal vein lateral saphenous artery and lateral saphenous vein and finally central ear artery and marginal e...

Isolated Rabbit Hearts

Left ventricular pressure-flow relations were studied, using excised working rabbit hearts and imposing constant flow ejections (flow-clamps) to separate the effects of flow on pressure from those of time, flow duration, starting volume, ejected volume, and volume at specified time. Pressure-flow data at given volume and time were independent of flow duration, starting volume, and ejected volum...

Previous Beat Ejection but Not Previous Beat Pressure Load

Previous beat contraction history, in which the performance of the left ventricle on any one beat is influenced by the mechanical events of the previous beat, may be important in the beat-to-beat regulation of left ventricular performance in the intact cardiovascular system. Prior studies of this phenomenon have established that mechanical events of the previous beat influence the function of t...
